her acting career began on the smaller stages of Broadway. The first film role was a cameo in “Mother Courage and Her Children” in 1964 alongside Anne Bancroft. It is from this point his career took acceleration.
An actor with a distinctive curly head of hair etched in the memory of viewers tempestuous roles in other well-known films, such as, among others, “Producers,” Mel Brooks, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” Mel Stuart and “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex *” Woody Allen.

The actor was born as Jerome Silberman in 1933 in a family of Jewish immigrants from Russia. He studied acting at the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 1955. With 26 years, he changed his name because of his own – Jerry Silberman – did not sound for him too well. The name “Gene” drew from Eugene Gant, the hero of books by Thomas Wolfe. While the name “Wilder” by Thorton Wilder, also stressed that it was the most beautiful name I’ve ever heard. The family reported that he died on Sunday evening in Stamford, Connecticut, as a result of complications caused by Alzheimer’s disease.
Wilder married to actress Gilda Radner in 1984, and was widowed five years later, when she died of ovarian cancer. Henceforth Wilder began to actively promote the prevention of cancer. In 1991 he married again with Karen Boyer.
