UNICEF: alarming number of countries in need of humanitarian assistance – Virtual Poland

• On Friday falls World Humanitarian Day

 • Last year, UNICEF provided assistance to victims as a result of 310 emergencies in 102 countries around the world

 • This is the highest score in 10 years – alerts the United Nations Fund for Children
 

According to UNICEF, humanitarian crises affected mostly countries of West and Central Africa (73), Eastern and Southern Africa (68) and the Middle East and North Africa (53) . Natural disasters and armed conflicts are the everyday life of millions of children and their families around the world – alerts the organization.

I recall that entire villages and towns have been wiped out as a result of two powerful earthquakes in Nepal and after the cyclone Pam in Vanuatu. The Ebola virus killed more than 11 thousand. people and food insecurity puts millions of children in Africa malnutrition.
 

In 2015. 250 million children living in areas affected by armed conflict. In Syria itself immediate humanitarian needs of more than 6 million children in Yemen effects of the humanitarian crisis affecting 82 percent. population. The conflict in Southern Sudan has forced over 2.3 million people from their homes.
 



 UNICEF insists that every humanitarian crisis reflected the situation of children by depriving them of the right to proper development, security, food, health, education opportunities, and in the worst case – life.
 

In 2015. UNICEF, together with partner organizations delivered m. In. clean water for 25.5 million people in the world, instilled measles 23 million children and more than 3 million given psychological support. In addition, 2 million children from 6 to 59 months old were treated for acute malnutrition, and 7.5 million children under the age of 18 allowed access to education.
 

At the same humanitarian assistance in 2015. UNICEF has allocated more than $ 1.6 billion. In the current year the need is equally great. This is the day tribute to all the people affected by humanitarian crises and those who risked their lives to bring them help. Slogan of this year’s Day is “One Humanity”; It points to the need for unity in the name of common humanity.
