France: Mistral put to sea with a Russian crew – Banker


             Mistral ship named “Vladivostok”, the first of two Mistral ordered by Russia, France, the supply has been suspended because of the Ukrainian crisis, came out on Saturday morning at the sea from the port of Saint-Nazaire with a Russian crew on board.
           

 

The ship carried out its first trial cruise of the Russian workforce of 400 sailors and passing by the end of June training in Saint-Nazaire in the framework of the contract signed by the French company DCNS shipyard and the Russian side.

 

How to specify the AFP, more than 200 Russian sailors still zaokrętowało Friday night on the cruise with trial to last about 10 days. The purpose of the voyage is to conduct practical exercises on the high seas.


 

France announced in early September that it was suspending Russia November delivery of the first of two Mistral amphibious assault ships because of the actions of Moscow in Ukraine. On the sidelines of the recent NATO summit in Wales, President Francois Hollande said that the contract for delivery of two Mistral Russia has not been broken or suspended, but not ripe conditions for planned for October delivery of the first ship.


 

The second ship Mistral called “Sevastopol”, which is being built by STX shipbuilding company, was to be delivered in November of 2015.

 

Hollande insisted that the terms of the transfer of Russia’s warships are truce and a political solution to the Ukraine.


 

Included in 2011 during the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy’s contract is valued at 1.2 billion euros. It was the first such big deal to import military equipment contained by Moscow since the fall of the Soviet Union. (PAP)
