Arrangements of the contact group talks collapsed in Minsk on Monday during a telephone conversation the presidents of Ukraine, Russia and France and Chancellor of Germany. The press service of the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko reported at the time that it has reached an agreement with Vladimir Putin, Francois Hollande and Angela Merkel that they will continue their consultations over the phone a few days.
The earlier agreement
The previous two group meetings were held in Minsk in September. Resulted in agreements that spoke, among others ceasefire, the establishment of a demilitarized buffer zone and keeping the troops on both sides of the front line as of September 20 and the exchange of hostages. Agreement continue to be violated, but the intensity of the fighting on the Eastern Ukraine dropped significantly.
On Tuesday, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin not rule out that after talks on Wednesday, the contact group will meet in Minsk also on Friday.
