Canadian Prime Minister: Russia Vladimir Putin should not return to … – Onet.pl

As long as Russian President Vladimir Putin has ruled, it should not be allowed to return to the G7 meeting – said the Prime Minister Stephen Harper in an interview with The Associated Press, published yesterday evening. He added that the Russian charakterstyczne policy is “to say that black is white, even when everyone knows that the opposite is true.” “I think as long as they will take this point of view, they will treat us as if we were all stupid,” – he said.

Harper gave the AP interview before the visit to Ukraine and travel to the G7 summit in Germany on June 7-8.

“I do not think Russia under Vladimir Putin belonged to the G7 – and the dot. Canada will strongly object to the notion that Putin ever sat at this table again. Back in Russia require consensus, and to this consensus simply does not happen “- said Harper.

He accused Russia, that does not mean it like its partners that “deliberately trying to be a strategic rival” and “deliberately counteracts the good things that the world strive to achieve”.

“The mindset of a man with whom we have to do is this: the cold war never ended, and I have to fight to somehow change the ending” – Harper said in an interview. He said then that it does not consider it possible that “Russia has changed during the reign of the leaders.”

The media recorded in November last year exchanges between the Russian president and the Harper at the G20 summit in Australia. Canadian Prime Minister Putin said at the time that Russia must withdraw from the Ukraine, to which he replied that Russians are not present there.

In an interview with the AP Harper said: “This kind of typical of Russian foreign policy – saying that black is white, even when everyone knows that the opposite is true. I think that as long as they will take a point view, they will treat us as if we were all stupid – really does not make sense to lead a dialogue with them. “

For the G7 – the group most industrialized countries in the world – are: USA, Japan, Germany, Canada, United Kingdom, France and Italy. Until last year, participated in the meetings of the G7, Russia has also, however, excluded it because of the annexation of the Crimea and supporting pro-Russian separatists in Donbas. At a meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 in April in Lübeck ministers they decided that this decision remains in force. Before the June meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmed once again that Putin is due to the policy towards Ukraine, especially due to the annexation of the Crimea, will not participate in the deliberations.

Canada joined the sanctions against representatives of Russia introduced by the US and the EU in response to the crisis Ukrainian. Also decided to send to Ukraine of its military instructors.
