The Czech and Slovak Transatlantic Award (CSTA ) awarded by the Slovak Atlantic Commission (SAC) and the Czech association Jagello 2000 for his contribution to freedom and democracy in Central Europe. President Komorowski took it during a special ceremony in the Slovak Philharmonic Hall.

He assured that he regarded the award as “an expression of respect for an entire generation of Polish Solidarity, which won freedom for themselves and for others. “

– Freedom can be treated differently, as an end in itself, freedom to do anything you want, but can be seen as a great challenge, commitment and duty – said the Polish president.

He stressed that for him “freedom is not only a commitment to Poland and Polish people, but also neighbors and all those who are fighting for their freedom and are trying to strengthen it, despite the fact that collide the brutality of the world, with wars and threats from its neighbors. “

He added that the Polish and Poles freedom “is associated with belonging to the Western world”. Freedom is associated with the ability to think not only about themselves but also about others, seek what people and nations unites rather than divides.

As noted, “Polish freedom means that we are together on both sides of the Atlantic”. He noted that the award “was created with this in mind to transcend political divisions that often divide nations”. – Therefore, in a special way to thank you for the Czech and Slovak Transatlantic Award – he added.

In the capital of Slovakia Komorowski will take Globec2015 participation in the summit. He will also meet with President of Slovakia Adrejem Kiska.
