UN urges Internet companies about reactions to the actions of jihadists – Banker


             UN urged Internet companies and social networking sites owners responding to the growing jihadist activities on the Internet. In the document reached by the Associated Press stressed that terrorists exploit, among others, network to recruit.
           

 

A special report on this matter was developed by a group of experts working on behalf of the UN Security Council. The document called on Internet companies to cooperate with the international community in order to stop Islamic terrorist groups from exploitation to its objectives, eg. Social networking. Also underlined the need to identify and block accounts that are associated with jihadists and their sympathizers.

 

“In the past years there has been a disturbing trend – the use of modern technology to digital terrorism propaganda spread mainly by the Islamic State (IS) and their sympathizers, who thus promote their twisted ideology” – stressed the creator of the document, which on Wednesday cited AP.

 

“The scale of digital threats that is closely connected with radicalization, together with the need for decisive steps to prevent extremism requires further action by the Security Council” – highlighted in the document.


 

The authors report adds that outside IS very active in the online exhibit different terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda and related groups. (PAP)
