Norway: Government proposes to grant children the right to determine … – Onet.pl

The Government also proposes that persons 16 years of age can decide, whether they are male or female. The decision would take at its own discretion, and not on the basis of medical diagnosis. Legal sex change could be revoked if the person who decided on her, came later to the conclusion that he had made a mistake.

– This is a historic proposal to change gender will no longer determine health, but individuals – HØIE said.

The government’s plan will now be debated by experts before any bills will go to parliament.

It is proposed that parents of children between the ages of 7 and 16 years can occur with applications for legal sex change, with all the consequences – of a social security number after the data in the passport. Anyone who is over 16 years could make such an application yourself. In contrast, physical, sex change is operating in Norway allowed in people who are at least 18 years old.

Amnesty International it is estimated that in Europe is approx. 1.5 million of transgender people, ie. those that identify with another gender than the one to which classified them after birth.
