Early parliamentary elections in Serbia. The success of the Serbian Radical Party – Polish Radio

In third place was the Serbian Radical Party (SRS), which received 8 percent. Parliament will also include pro-European Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), which has been probably 6 percent. – Says an independent center CeSID, who since 1997. Monitors elections in Serbia. An hour before the closure of the polling stations the turnout was 53 percent.

The final election results will be announced in a few days. “Results may differ slightly from those reported after the closing of polling stations based on exit poll, but it is already clear that the Progressive Party won all over the country – believes Dziordzie Vuković from CeSID.

If the post-election survey results are confirmed, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) will be able to count on almost half of the 250 seats in parliament.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vuczić, who decided to to hold a pre-term elections two years before the end of the parliamentary term, to how stressed, “to get a mandate to undertake the difficult socio-economic reforms essential for the continuation of negotiations with the European Union,” declared election result of his the party as a “historic victory”

– OUTCOME these elections are an expression of strong support for our democracy, our reforms and the process of European integration. We showed ourselves and the world that Serbia is united in its quest for a better future “- said Vuczić after hearing the first sondażowymi results. He announced he was not going to make any compromises with the parties of the right hand in what concerns the European aspirations of Serbia that” correspond to the long-term interests of the country. “He added, however, that” traditional ties with friends in the east (Russia) will be preserved. “

Vucic, in the past associated with the movement of the right-wing national, “is undoubtedly populist, who included in his program course for rapprochement with the European Union” – notes Reuters.

As the high score of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS), headed by Vojislav Szeszelj (he was acquitted on March 31 by the Court of the United Nations in The Hague and cleared of all charges, including war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in the Balkans in the years 90) opens against the party “way back to parliament”.

– We are delighted, but I decided voters. Our struggle continues. The bottom line is that the SRS obtains the status of the parliamentary opposition – commented on the preliminary results of the elections Szeszelj.

Real emphasize that Sunday’s elections were the Serbian Radical Party sort of plebiscite in which voters had to tell already rapprochement with the “impression” of the EU, now for the joinder of any union with traditional ally – Russia.

The representatives of the two pro-Western opposition parties, which probably does not exceed a threshold, say that during the elections there were numerous violations of the order of voting.

– This is not the democracy with which we had to do before 2012. – Said the former president, the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Boris Tadic after the election.

Sunday’s elections were the third in Serbia in four years; previous were held in 2014. Voting was authorized approx. 7 million voters. At the same time, local elections were held.
