12.04. Berlin (PAP / Reuters, dpa) - Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed on Tuesday - in the context of a complaint Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the German satirist - that in Germany apply fundamental values, including the principle of freedom of artistic expression.

The Chancellor acknowledged at the same time, it should not involve the case with measures to resolve the crisis of immigration.

Merkel said that Germany wants to find a solution to the immigration crisis, but it is separated from the issue of freedom of artistic expression. "We have a fundamental value in our Constitution (...) freedom of opinion, freedom of science and, of course, the freedom of art" - said the Chancellor, asked about the complaint Erdogan German satirist.

"These fundamental values are valid regardless of any political problems, which together discuss, and this also applies to the refugee issue. I think that Turkey and the European Union, and therefore also Germany, are interested in finding a solution political this issue, "- added Merkel.

President Erdogan, who felt offended poem about himself read out in German public television ZDF by satirist John Boehmermanna, filed a complaint on him through their lawyers. He informed the prosecutor's office on Monday evening in Mainz, where the headquarters of ZDF.

Reuters stresses that this issue complicates efforts in Berlin to win the support of Turkey in addressing the immigration crisis in the EU.

Boehmermann is the host of the evening program Neo Magazine Royale in German public television ZDF. 31 March recited a poem about Erdogan, including indiscriminate sexual allusions and accusations that Turkish President persecuting minorities, mistreats the Kurds and Christians.

Before reading the poem referred to the Boehmermann posted in mid-March on German TV satirical song mocking Erdogan for the repression of journalists. Ankara called on the then German ambassador, demanding explanations. The Turkish authorities have protested sharply against kpinom of the head of state. To the Foreign Ministry in Ankara was summoned several times German ambassador. Berlin rejected the initial protests, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that freedom of speech is not negotiable.

Turkish protests spurred German satirists to further ridicule. Boehmermann stressed that satirical song attributed to television was in the category of freedom of artistic expression, freedom of the press and freedom of expression.

At this stage in the dispute about the limits of freedom of speech has included Chancellor Angela Merkel. The head of government in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu assessed row Boehmermanna as "deliberately insulting". Merkel stressed the importance of freedom of speech, reserved, however, that this freedom is "not unlimited."

The prosecutor's office in Mainz announced that Erdogan's complaint will be dealt with in the framework of implemented after complaints over 20 people proceedings against satyrykowi on suspicion of committing "images of organs and representatives of foreign states."

Boehmermann explains that deliberately provocative text would "help to establish border" between what satire is allowed and what is prohibited.

On Sunday, a note verbale containing the request to take legal action against satyrykowi forwarded to the authorities in Berlin, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On Monday, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin that the government examines the contents of the note, which "will probably take a few days, but certainly not a few weeks."

The German journalists believe that Merkel was "between a rock and a hard place." If you do not agree to an investigation will expose the Turkish authorities, which plays a key role in its plan to combat the crisis migration. If, however, allow the investigation will be criticized at home for deflection in front of the pressure of Ankara and not quite consistent defense of freedom of speech. (PAP)
