Countries EU formally adopted on Monday evening new sanctions against Russia

– said the head of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. With the implementation of EU sanctions will wait a few days to assess whether observed a ceasefire in the east of Ukraine.

The new restrictions, agreed on Friday by the ambassadors of EU countries, governments have approved by written procedure.

Then the financial and visa restrictions against additional persons and institutions responsible for the conflict in eastern Ukraine would come into effect immediately, while economic sanctions – on Wednesday.

However, following the announcement on Friday of the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, in EU there are voices to wait with the tightening of sanctions against Russia and to assess whether the truce is respected. Prime Minister of Finland Alexander Stubb informed about their concerns on Twitter.
