18 killed in bombing near Karbala – Virtual Poland

• Islamic State (IS) admitted to a suicide bombing in central Iraq, where the wedding party were killed on Sunday evening at least 18 people
 

 • The attack occurred in the village of Ain al-Tamer, about 50 km from Karbala
 

At least 26 people were wounded in the attack, and among the fatalities are five members of the same family.

According to the latest information, police wedding was attacked by five attackers, including a suicide bomber. They were armed with machine guns and hand grenades. All the attackers were killed by Iraqi security forces. Previously we reported that the bombers were more than five.
 

This is the first bombing in the region of Karbala when Iraqi forces drove the Islamic State jihadist fighters from their stronghold in Fallujah, approx. 80 km to the north. Despite the offensive Iraqi government forces supported by the US-led coalition and the Shiite militias, having the support of Iran, IS retains control over areas of northern and western Iraq. In recent times, he took responsibility for the bombings targeting mainly Shia community.
