Bolivian deputy interior minister Rodolfo Illanes was kidnapped and beaten to death by striking miners. Information confirmed by representatives of the government. 55-year-old Illanes went on Thursday morning to the city Panduro, located 165 km south of the capital, to start a dialogue with the miners – those from Monday blocked the highway, demanding, inter alia, increases and better working conditions.
The protests escalated into clashes with the police. On Wednesday, the police bullets killed two miners were injured 17 officers.
Later, the Interior Ministry reported that the deputy minister and his bodyguard were kidnapped. Illanes was to be tortured.
