Pawel Lisicki: the new German imperialism – Virtual Poland

Instead of an alliance with the countries of Central Europe in the fight against the influx of newcomers, Germany wants to force them to change position. Is not it, I dare say, different, new, old form of cultural imperialism? – Asks Pawel Lisicki in a column for WP Opinion.

Shortly after the Warsaw meeting Angela Merkel with the heads of states of the Group Visegrad could get the impression that the issue of immigration policy took place, in the language of diplomats, some convergence of positions. Beata Szydlo said that German Chancellor is aware of the fact that “whoever tries to play this party [refugee policy] without the Polish and Central Europe, knows that it will not succeed.” Polish Prime Minister added that Angela Merkel, “we listened,” that it was a “good conversation” and that “not heard & gt; & gt; not & lt; & lt;” in response to Polish proposals to solve the problem of influx of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa. This careful indeed, but nevertheless optimism did not last long. Actually, only a dozen or so hours of it, because so much time has passed since the visit to Warsaw for an interview, which the German ARD gave German Chancellor. Then the spell has been broken like a soap bubble.

Listening to the words of the German politician I had a strange sense. Was she in Warsaw spoke a different language? A translator may be at fault and what Polish Prime Minister took a willingness to dialogue, was actually his rejection? There is nothing indicates that Angela Merkel rethinking its position. Contrary. She appeared in the role of a teacher who knows better and is ready to teach without resistance unruly student.

The first stated that it intends to abandon the idea of relocation of migrants between the different Union countries. “The idea is to better and more equitably distribute the refugees who are already with us.” So, according to the German Chancellor, countries such as Poland act unfairly, do not want to be open, do not want to participate in the joint, it is dictated by Berlin, politics and should therefore continue to work on them.

Although, how easy would expect, the words were accompanied by the appropriate dose of rhetorical platitudes – “we must find a common solution” – but a common word meant in this case such that suggested Berlin. And although the German Chancellor did not respond directly to a question about possible financial penalties for opponents reception, its words can be considered a threat finger: “everyone must contribute to the solution of this case.” Apparently, that Warsaw considers its contribution – Humanitarian aid outside the Polish – is not enough.

no less firmly sounded another declaration Angela Merkel:” what we can not accept is the position of some countries that say, in principle we do not want to have Muslims in Here, country, irrespective of whether this is necessary for humanitarian reasons, or not. ” And why do not you accept that? Why the different EU countries do not have the right to decide whom and why they will accept in its limits? Who gave the chancellor the right to have to impose Poland, Hungary or the Czech Republic admissions policies on a massive scale Muslim immigration?

In the last year Germany adopted, thanks to the decision of German Chancellor, about a million immigrants, the vast majority of Muslims. This year it is estimated that this number could reach 300,000. This influx is so fast, that in the last days of German policy even criticized the Vice-Chancellor, the head of the SPD, Siegmar Gabriel. Yet Angela Merkel believes it has the right to scold others and put into a corner because he does not want to accept Muslims at home. And why would they want to?

All this interview shows how the problem of the reception of refugees is a matter of ideology. And how Germany lacks tact and sensitivity to attitude of others. For Poles, Czechs and Hungarians, the nations that have recently regained their independence, and which were exposed to destructive plans Communists, identity and national tradition are still fundamental values. Not after their fight, so now renounce and abandon them.

Regardless of whether this identity is based on living the Christian faith, as in Poland, or simply on a commitment to a Christian cultural pattern, as in the Czech Republic, it is something that the majority of the citizens of Central Europe wants to protect and preserve. Clearly, the influx of hundreds of thousands of Muslims have changed beyond recognition cultural image of each country.

Experience in Germany is different. National identity, the Christian tradition is suspicious words, vague, ambiguous. The guilt for the crimes of Hitler, the belief that national uniformity is a threat that makes the Germans accept Muslim refugees come so easily. The past is something that must be overcome. Thus, the end of the nation-state of the national tradition.

For this there is still the dominance of the left in the western media and promoted by the vision of a new, conflict-free society in which religious tradition and cultural significance not play. For the Western left what needs to be overcome, they are the remains of Christian – Muslim immigrants are a tool with which you can get rid of the old symbols and void. The more churches instead of mosques, the better, but it is only from the point of view of the left, transitional step towards total decay of religion.

This ideology it is so strong that for its implementation Germany are ready to risk weakening its position in Central Europe! They prefer to take hundreds of thousands of Muslims and to force others to do than listen to reasons Polish and Hungarian. German politicians do not notice how easily accepting this position, become the victim of blackmail on the part of Turkey. And what will happen if President Erdogan will not meet the 3 or 6 billion euros and demand, in exchange for the closure of borders to immigrants, 12 or 20? What is the limit of the strength of the budgets of EU countries?

Instead of an alliance with the countries of Central Europe in the fight against the influx of newcomers, Germany wants to force them to change position. Is not it, I dare say, different, new form of the old cultural imperialism?
