“Super Express”: – The French president announced that the attack on the editors of “Charlie Hebdo” is a terrorist attack. Many also indicates that it may be behind Islamic extremism. What is your assessment?
Andrew Mroczek: – No doubt this is a terrorist attack, which is ideological, as a result of information already available. In my opinion, the perpetrators themselves, however, do not have to be radical Islamists. They were rather only contractors, funded by the so far unknown person or group of people.
– What would it indicated?
– Please note that the perpetrators acting for ideological reasons, in recent years the most frequently sacrificed their lives. A phase of flight, even characteristic for bandits attacking on the banks of the previously prepared vehicles allows us to assume that we are dealing with people acting for purely financial. They had no intention to sacrifice life. They had carried out the attack, retreat and hide. I do not think they left Paris, but went to the previously prepared hideout. This is a typical characteristic of criminals.
– In your opinion, the coup was prepared in France and stand behind local extremists, and the inspiration came from abroad? Eg. The Islamic State, which sometimes odgrażało the West?
– Place the attack was a symbolic place. It was the editorial staff, which in the past have often occurred by the scruff of the Muslim community around the world. At this point, it is difficult to identify the correct source of inspiration. In my opinion it could very well be even a single person, which is published in “Charlie Hebdo” strove materials. It can live in any country of the world, but have sufficient funds to finance a coup. Therefore, it can not be identified at the moment, or the Islamic State, or Al-Qaeda, or with any Islamist groups wewnątrzfrancuskimi.
– Is this an isolated incident assassination, or the beginning of something bigger? And is therefore also in Poland, we should be on guard?
– Do not ograniczałbym this attack to a single incident. For a long time, intensified observe whether lone wolves, whether it smaller groups that identify themselves with the objectives of the Islamic State even though they do not need to act on his behalf. It is difficult to predict the scale of threats. In my opinion, in 2015 the most we can expect the intensity of terrorist attacks, which will have at their basis the ideology of Islamic extremism. It can work on a balloon.
– So?
– The idea is that if the service French, British or German take drastic action against the Islamists, they will infiltrate their environment and stop further suspects, they, feeling their breath back chase, will somewhere had to withdraw. Will want to take refuge in countries where counter-terrorism policy is more liberal. They will be able to either quietly wait witch hunt, or to target objects in these countries. Among them may be also Polish. It is true that we are not directly targeted terrorists, but in our country there is no shortage of places that could become eloquent symbolic targets of terrorist activities. Do not be so complacent that it really is one step away from our front door.
