After the victory of the revolution of dignity in Ukraine at the end of February last year, supported by Moscow and its military authorities declared the independence of the Crimean peninsula. The confirmation was going to be a referendum on March 15. With the turnout, which – according to official figures – was to be 84%, almost 97% of voters had opted for the joining of Crimea to Russia. The referendum was organized in record time, went with a number of violations: you can vote more than once, and their votes could give even the citizens of Russia. The authorities in Kiev drew the attention that the authorities do not have the Crimean Autonomous privilege to carry out the referendum on changes to the boundaries of Ukraine. Can organize local referenda, but only on the internal affairs of autonomy.
The consequence of the referendum was the annexation of the Crimea by Russia, which officially took place on March 18, when signed in Moscow an agreement. Did not recognize that neither Ukraine nor West.
