USA: librarian shot by a police officer during exercise – Virtual Poland

• 73-year-old librarian shot during a police exercise in Florida

73-year-old librarian was shot when police exercise in Florida that would teach participants in what situations may use a firearm – police said on Wednesday.

Exercises took place on Tuesday in the Citizen Police Academy in Punta Gorda, and Mrs. Mary Knowlton was one of thirty people taking part in them.
 

In the course of the exercises was randomly chosen to play the victim. At one point, one of the officers took her on sight and pulled the trigger twice. Then it turned out that his weapon was loaded with sharp bullets. She died Tuesday night after transporting to the hospital.
 



 - I am absolutely appalled – said the local police chief Tom Lewis at a press conference, stressing that there was a “horrible accident”.
 

A police officer who killed the librarian, was sent on forced leave for the duration of the investigation.
